The accomplishments and achievements attained by Ms. Caree Harper, in the field of Legal Services, warrants inclusion into the Top Attorneys of North America. Attorney Caree Harper provides criminal defense and represents victims of civil rights violations in state and federal courts, remaining undefeated in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. This year, she defended the #BlackLivesMatter protestors in L.A. who were criminally charged with blocking the freeway after the Ferguson riots stemming from the killing of unarmed teen Michael Brown, pro bono, in which there were no convictions. In 2014, Caree settled a case involving the shooting of unarmed teenager Kendrec McDade, killed by Pasadena police and later that same year Caree obtained a $1.5 mil. settlement for CHP beating survivor Marlene Pinnock and had the terms of the termination of the officer embodied in the Settlement Agreement-setting precedent. For ten years, Caree handled dozens of pro bono cases for the Pasadena NAACP. She recently accepted the cases of Clinton AlfordWalter DeLeon, and Michelle Cooks. She strongly believes in the attorney-client privilege, and will go to the greatest depths to protect her clients’ secrets and confidences. Caree has obtained significant downward departures for federal criminal defendants and recently successfully argued before a three-judge panel at the 9th Circuit for a reversal of the lower Court’s ruling in a federal civil rights action. Ms. Harper received her B.A. from Saint Mary’s College of California in Morage and her J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law. She is one of the National Trial Lawyers “Top 100,” and a member of various Bar Associations in Southern California. Prior to becoming an attorney she was a decorated police officer.
